Recount is speech to text for people who document for a living. The model runs on your own machine, so nothing you say is uploaded, stored, or handed to anyone else.

This is not a privacy policy or a setting you have to trust. There is no upload path in the software — the speech model is built into the program and runs on your own processor.
What is never sent cannot be intercepted, retained by a vendor, or produced in discovery against you.
Because no protected information reaches us, there is no agreement to negotiate and no vendor to add to your risk register.

Most dictation software asks you to take accuracy on faith. These are real numbers from a published test set of legal, inspection and clinical phrasing — and the method ships with the software so you can run it yourself.

The table above is professional vocabulary, measured on synthesised speech. Separately, on real recorded human speech from forty different speakers, the same test reports 5.8% — so the synthesised figures are not flattering the result. Both remain favourable cases: quiet rooms, good microphones, clear delivery. A jobsite is harder, and figures for that will be published when they exist, whatever they say.
Windows dictation cannot put text into certain applications at all. You press the key, you speak, and nothing appears. Closing that gap is the reason this is being built.
Most dictation tools send synthetic keystrokes and stop there. That silently fails in remote sessions, which forward real key codes and have nothing to forward.
The default. Leaves your clipboard untouched and works in ordinary applications.
For Teams, Java and Qt applications that ignore synthetic keystrokes. Your clipboard is put back afterwards.

All three are built and switchable from the tray. The application names above are written in future tense on purpose: they have not yet been tested inside a real Citrix or remote desktop session, and until they are, that claim is not one to make.
General dictation fails hardest on the terms that matter most in professional work. Planned releases will ship with the vocabulary already loaded, rather than asking you to add words one at a time.

Your licence key arrives by email from our payment provider, usually within a minute. Nothing else is sent, and no account is created.
Run the installer. No administrator rights are needed, and it does not ask for one. Recount appears in your system tray, by the clock.
Fourteen days unrestricted — every feature, no card, nothing withheld. Confirm it works in your own applications before you pay for it.
Right-click the tray icon → Enter licence key, and paste the key from your email. That is the whole activation.
One purchase activates two computers — a desktop and a laptop, for instance. Moving to a new machine? Email us and we will free a slot.
Activation contacts our payment provider once to confirm the key, then roughly weekly afterwards. If that check cannot be made — no connection, a firewall, a flight — Recount keeps working. It will not lock you out of software you have paid for because a server was unreachable.

After the fourteen days Recount keeps working, but each dictation is cut off at ten seconds until you enter a licence key. It does not stop running, and it never holds your settings or your work hostage — you simply cannot use it for real documents.
